11 Abbotsford martial artists earn medals at 2024 Sato Cup

Yogi’s Karate Dogo athletes excel at Burnaby-based competition

Yogi’s Karate Dojo in Abbotsford put together a glorious day at the 23rd annual Sato Cup event in Burnaby on Nov. 9, with 11 local athletes taking home medals.

The event saw martial artists of all ages compete in kata, kumite and weapons events as both individuals and in a team.

Abbotsford athletes earning medals included:

  • Angad Bhatti: gold
  • Nirvair S. Maan: gold and bronze
  • Reyansh Guglani: silver and bronze
  • Armman Dhaliwal: silver and bronze
  • Ekamjot Deol: silver
  • Dhruv Shukla: silver and bronze
  • Sartaj Bhatti: two bronze
  • Nirpak S. Maan: bronze
  • Tashi Sharma: bronze
  • Rayan Sharma: bronze
  • Devyaan Sharma: bronze

“Each medal represents hours of dedication, resilience, and the willingness to push limits,” stated Sensei Yogender Chauhan. “These young athletes have not only made their families and dojo proud but have also brought great pride to the entire Abbotsford community.”
